
Women from Nepal village send condoms to their husbands working abroad to protect them from sexually transmitted diseases.
The women from Pang village, Nepal urged their spouses not to have sex with other women while working abroad, but in cases they won't be able to control themselves, they sent condoms for protection.
Social workers started conducting a campaign on sexually transmitted diseases in remote villages about two years ago. As many women learned about unsafe sex, they started a practice to send their husbands letters along with condoms for protection.
As much as three million Nepalese are now working abroad to support their families living in Nepal. Many wives are aware of their husbands unfaithfulness and say that if they couldn't prevent it, they at least try to protect their families from STIs.
It is know, that labor migration that often results in marital infidelity is one of the major factors contributing to STI transmission.
Many specialist warn that social programs will be aimed at encouraging safer sex as infidelity would be hard to prevent.
