The so-called Generation X - those who were born between 1965 and 1985 are likely to be soon named "Generation without sex".
Scientists found that people born in the late 70s had less sexual partners and are less likely to cheat on their partners than other generations. It is thought that less promiscuity of this generation is due to the emergence of AIDS and to the fact that the boom in parent's divorce made them more faithful and value commitment above all.
In spite of the fact that the Pill emerged in the 1960s and that inclined the generation to become more adventurous, the increased number of couples breaking up made Generation X less prone to adultery.
Youngsters who are by now in their twenties think of sex less serious due to the prevalence of internet, Edward Laumann, the professor of sociology at the University of Chicago said.
Though the findings do not suggest that Generation X do not have sex, they are apparently more cautious and less inclined to have varied sex as their parents or modern youngsters do.
