
Coming out is a big issue for a person who feels his sexual orientation might seem different from his peers. The latest poll conducted by Ynet-Gesher showed that as many as 73 percent of respondents would accept their child's homosexuality.
People were asked: "How would you respond if your son or daughter informed you that they have homosexual tendencies?". For 43 percent of respondents, this news would be somehow disappointing but would accept their child and even their child's partner. Another 30 percent said that if their child is happy it wouldn't bother them.
Only 15 percent of all respondents said their child's homosexual tendencies would shock them and they would keep the distance with their child. Among the most gay-unfriendly respondents said there were 12 percent of parents who consider death to be a better solution that knowing you are homosexual.
Mothers were found to be more loyal to the homosexuality of their child than fathers. As many as 79 percent of women said they would accept their child irrespective of his or her sexual orientation compared to 66 percent of men.
Among the religious people, 27 per were they had to choose which of the four potential neighbors would seem more troublesome to them, 38 percent claimed that musical family would be the most problematic neighbor compared to 12 percent of those who would hardly accept a homosexual family.
The findings of the poll show that fear of the "other" who has different lifestyle causes disturbance that leads to intolerance. cent of people said they would cut off all the contacts with their child.
